Owl Cake for Baby Mae Olivia

By | April 18, 2011

Over the last couple of years, I’ve seen the arrival of many adorable babies and I love it!!!  These new additions have all been near and dear to my heart.  One highly anticipated baby will be making her debut soon, Mae Olivia.  I made this baby shower cake this weekend as a surprise for the parents-to-be and went with an owl to match her nursery theme.  Each feather was cut and placed on the owl one at a time.  It’s a tedious process but I’m happy with the outcome.

In addition to the cake, I made this shadow box for the nursery.

Cristina and Andrew, I’m so happy for you both.  I can’t wait Baby Mae’s arrival.

Hi Emilyn,

I was thrilled when i saw your blog and love all the coincidences. My daugther will be 1 in August 2012 and her name is: Olivia Mae! LOLOLOL. She loves a Lamaze toy that i’ts called “Olivia the Owl”, so for her first birthday i decided that the theme will be:” Owls” :-)))).
The reason I’m writing is because i love the cake you made, and even if my bakery skills (decorating, etc) are close to nil), i just wanted to ask you what shapes, tins, pans you used to achieve that shape? with the decoration i can play with marsipan or tubes of colouring, but its the shape i’m struggling with! Could you please help this mum in distress?LOLOLOL
Cheers,
Ana
P.s. Dear Cristina & Andrew i hope all went well and that Mae Olivia arrived safe! xx
